Vacation Pet Care & Chewy Granola Bars

June 13, 2011

Trying to get out of town but struggling to arrange pet care. Usually my neighbor & I share pet care duties, however, this year we are traveling parts of the same week. She has a friend who has kept her dog before, so Millie went to Spring Hill for a visit with Aunt Jane & Uncle Dave. Poor Lucy isn’t so fortunate.

Our entire family is at the beach this week, so sons are not available to help. Dear friend P’s daughter is staying at college this summer – she kept Lucy, Moxie & Carole’s Millie last summer during wedding week in Charleston, SC.

I can board Moxie at her vet & have her annual physical completed when I return. I just hate to think of her in a crate for a week: no between-meal snacks: no squirrels, no chipmunks, no voles, no mice. No birds – good! She is supposed to be on a feathered friend-free diet!

Lucy’s vet doesn’t board their pet-patients any longer, which would mean using a pet spa sort of place or have someone come in twice a day. I am still checking options at this point but I’m down to the wire.
If only the condo we rent at the beach allowed pets! Lu is a great traveler & a wonderful house guest. I wonder if I could get forgiveness rather than permission…
