Christmas Alphabet: G is for Gift Giving

December 2, 2011

Gift jar

G is for Gift Giving, whether store-bought or handmade, fresh-baked or pre-packaged.
God gave the first, best Christmas gift to us. The wise men brought gifts to the Newborn King. Using their example we share gifts with friends, family, many who cross our path in the Christmas season.

Jambalaya Mix

This Jambalaya Mix is an excellent gift.

  • 1 cup Long-grain Rice
  • 1 Tablespoon Dried Onion Flakes
  • 1 Tablespoon Dried Green Pepper Flakes
  • 1 Tablespoon Dried Parsley Flakes
  • 2 teaspoons Beef-flavored Bouillon Granules (I use 2 Edward & Sons Not-Beef Cubes instead.)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dried Shredded Green Onions
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Dried Thyme Leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red Pepper

  1. Combine all ingredients, stirring well.
  2. Store in an airtight container.

Then print the preparation directions on a gift card:

  • Combine the Jambalaya Mix with 2 cups of Water & 8 ounces of Tomato Sauce in a Dutch-oven.
  • Bring to a boil & cover.
  • Reduce heat to simmer & cook 20 minutes.
  • Stir in 1 pound Smoked Sausage cut into 1/4-inch slices & 1 cup cooked Ham.
  • Cook until thoroughly heated.
