Christmas Alphabet: J is for Jesus

December 6, 2011

J is for Jesus, the reason for the season!

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. John 3: 16 & 17

This is THE Christmas message.
The only one that matters! This is the Gospel.

Enjoy a beautiful piano solo.

Unable to resist this cutie.

I wanted to link a video/audio of the Carl Nygard arrangement of “God So Loved The World” that our choir sings, but couldn’t find it on YouTube! So instead, I linked the Stainer arrangement, which according to Dr. Murray Somerville, “Sir John Stainer… (Oxford man) :-)”

The boys

Happy Birthday, Jesus Cake

On the Sunday before, or the Sunday of Christmas, like this year, the Children’s Department of the church where we were members when the boys were growing up, had a birthday party for Jesus. It is His birthday we are celebrating & all children understand “birthday party.”

Ingredients:

  • 1 White Sheet Cake with White Frosting
  • Birthday Candles

Instructions:

  1. Give me a break – surely you know how to stick candles in a cake & light them.

You can get more complicated & make multi-colored layers symbolizing our sin (chocolate) & His blood (red velvet) shed for those sins, but the simple idea is that this is a birthday cake for the Baby born in Bethlehem when the star shown bright in the sky & the angels sang “Glory to God in the highest & on Earth, peace, goodwill toward men!”
