Christmas Alphabet: O is for the Other Wiseman

December 12, 2011

O is for the Other Wise Man, whose story by Henry van Dyke, was published in 1895.

3 men

You have heard of the three wise men who came from the east.
Artaban, the other wise man, followed the star, but didn’t make it to Bethlehem in time to see the newborn King. Finally, after searching for what seemed a lifetime for the King born that day so long ago…

Book 2

I love this story & you can read it here.

With one chapter titled “By the Waters of Babylon,” this might be a good time to remind everyone to make a special effort to stay hydrated during the hustle & bustle holiday season. We get so busy with all there is to do that we forget to drink our water, making us susceptible to fatigue & illness. Drink your water! Then drink some tea :0)

Instant Russian Tea

An oldie that I found in the 1970 edition of Think Christmas. Give as a gift or keep it in a jar in your kitchen, ready at a moments notice.

  • 2 cups Tang, the powder the astronauts used to drink
  • 1 1/2 cups Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Instant Tea
  • 1 teaspoon ground Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground Cloves
  • 1 small package Unsweetened Lemonade (without sugar)

  1. Place ingredients in glass jar with screw-type lid & shake until well blended.
  2. Store until ready to use.

To serve, mix 2 teaspoons of mix with 1 teacup of boiling water.
