Old Habits & DH’s Dinner-Leftovers Salad

February 15, 2012

February is half-way over! Although it’s not the darkest month & maybe not the coldest – it is the shortest & by golly, I’m glad!

While at Sanibel Island last month, I purchased a sweatshirt at the Ding Darling Refuge because of the cold north wind that had blown in.

Old habits

Old habits die hard when one has been purchasing clothing for 27 years to hide one’s overweight body. I instinctively grabbed the XL & off I went.

The Sweatshirt

Since it swallowed me (I’m between a S & M right now), it has been given to DH, who, by the way, has lost 15 pounds since this photo was taken! Well done!

DH s Salad

(DH demanded that I photograph his salad, he was so very pleased with his handiwork.)

DH’s Dinner-Leftovers Salad

DH has become the salad king & will throw everything including the kitchen sink in his bowl for a fabulous salad. He packs his workday lunch salad right after dinner, carrying the dressing in a separate container.
His question: How many colors have you eaten today?

  • Romaine Lettuce (He will use anything but prefers Romaine)
  • Cucumbers, sliced thin
  • Celery, sliced
  • Carrots, sliced
  • Cocktail Tomatoes
  • Sweet Onion, thinly sliced
  • Red Bell Pepper, sliced
  • Chicken or Steak, whatever was leftover from the previous evening’s dinner
  • Salsa or Salad Dressing
  • Sea Salt & Black Pepper to taste

  1. Place the ingredients in a large bowl in order.
  2. Enjoy!
