Republic of Tea & Charleston Spiced Tea

I fell in love with Natural Hibiscus Tea this past winter, a little something different than the usual Yerba Maté, green or herb teas that I ordinarily drink.


With the coming of Spring with it’s warmer temperatures I wondered how this red tea with a slight tart/sweet finish would taste over ice. IT’S WONDERFUL!

Charleston Spiced Tea

Adapted from a very old recipe…


  • 8 cups Boiling Water
  • 5 Tablespoons Loose Black, White or Green Tea
  • 1 1/2 cups Honey
  • 8 cups Water
  • 1 teaspoon Whole Cloves
  • Juice of 1 Lemon
  • Juice of 6 Oranges


  1. Add boiling water to tea leaves; Let stand 5 minutes then strain.
  2. Make a syrup by boiling honey & cloves in water.
  3. Add syrup to tea with fruit juices.
  4. Chill & serve over ice.
