Fitness Friday: Stop Making Excuses!
Why can’t you exercise? You’re too old, too tired, too stressed, too busy, too ill, handicapped…
You are the only one who can choose wellness. You are the only one who can make a positive difference in your health & lifestyle! Ronald McDonald is not chasing you down the street trying to stuff a Big Mac down your throat. Starbuck’s (I call them 5-Bucks) is not requiring you to stop on your way to work for a sugar-laden Caramel Macchiato.
Understand that even small changes, little decisions can have huge impacts in your wellness. So why not make a small change today. Stop driving around the parking lot looking for the closest parking space, or using the handicap sticker to park next to the door. My 86-year old mother-in-law with rheumatoid arthritis has a handicap parking permit she refuses to use because “someone who is actually handicapped might need the space!”
Park at the farthest space away from the door & walk! You burn a few extra calories, your heart rate increases making it stronger & you soak up a bit of sunlight which helps your vitamin D levels. These are all very good things! One more – your car doors won’t get dings & dents from other cars hitting them because everyone else is parking up close.
Just do it!
