As D H & I were driving past vineyards on Highway 116 with ancient gnarly vines we came upon Martinelli Vineyards & Winery. Growing up the trellis of their deck were ancient Chardonnay vines that were at least 8 inches thick.

Inside the tasting room were casks from the beginning of the winery, different tools that were being used at that time & lots of items for purchase with the Martinelli Winery logo.

Our server shared with us the history of the winery which is still family owned then began pouring the delicious wines. She asked us where we were visiting from and shared that her husband was from outside of Knoxville, Tennessee where her family would be gathering this summer for a family reunion. She also told us that one of the Martinelli daughters married the love of her life & relocated to Brentwood, Tennessee which is near our home.

We brought her up to date on the opening of new wineries in that section of Tennessee encouraging her to stop by Arrington Vineyards when they were in Tennessee for their family reunion.

Martinelli Syrah

We enjoyed her hospitality & the delicious wines so much so that we bought a bottle & I took a photo of a bottle I wanted to share with my friend P.
